Lazise, located on the eastern shore of Lake Garda is considered the first free commune d ‘Italy. The Lazise origins are very old, were found aggregates of house from the bronz age,demonstrating the importance that had lazise as prehistoric center. The past of Lazise is marked by many wars, it was the only city on the Veronese territory to rebel against Venice, but had to surrender, at this point there were new wars against new enemy troops, and the town suffered many ravages. Lazise was under the control of many states, including the Austrian Empire, but after the third war of independence went back into Italian territory.
The most impressive building in the country is the Castello Scaligero and the walls surrounding the historic center, The castle suffered many injuries,but with the passage of time, lost its importance, and was bought by the people of Lazise, and then by private families. Construction of great importance to the port was the Dogana Veneta.
